UNB, Dhaka :
Uber, the app-based cab service operating in different countries, has recently completed 5 billion trips globally.
Uber which launched its journey in 2010 to solve a simple problem hit a big milestone by completing 1 billion trips in late 2015.
Six months later, it crossed two billion and on May 20, 156 trips started simultaneously, putting it over the 5-billion mark, said a press release on Friday.
These trips happened in cities like Mumbai, Moscow and Medellin of
24 countries in six continents.
The shortest trip of the bunch lasted just 2.5 blocks in San Francisco while the longest lasted 17 miles in Singapore. Fifteen riders were on the road, using Uber outside their home city.
“All of these trips wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of drivers. We’re giving each of the 156 drivers involved in this milestone $500 to say thanks,” said a Uber statement.
