United Ashuganj Energy Ltd (UAEL) has been awarded “GOLD Asian Power Awards 2015”, the highest recognition in the category of “Combined Cycle Power Plant of the Year” all across the Asia Pacific Region, from Asian Power Magazine.
The prize giving ceremony was held in Bangkok, Thailand recently in an event known as the “Oscars” of the power industry.
UAEL was also awarded with the “SILVER Asian Power Awards 2015” for “Fast-Track Power Plant of the Year” and “BRONZE Asian Power Awards 2015″for “Gas Power Project of the Year” during the event.
The awards were received by General Muhammad Abdul Mubeen, SBP (Retd), the Chairman of United Power Generation & Distribution Co. Ltd. (UPGDCL) and Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, the Managing Director of UAEL.
UAEL has a capacity of 195 MW (net) and consists of 20 Units of Wärtsilä 20V34SG Gensets, 20 Units of Waste Heat Recovery Boilers, 1 Steam Turbine and 4 Units of 11/230 KV, 70/80 MVA Power Transformers, along with all auxiliary equipment, making it one of the largest gas engine based energy efficient combined cycle modular power plant in Asia. The plant achieved commercial operation on 8th May 2015, nineteen days earlier than the required date.
