UAE Minister visits Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar

UAE State Minister for International Cooperation, Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, visited a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
She also visited Rohingya refugee communities and UAE sponsored Malaysian Field Hospital in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
Later, he paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence of Ganabhaban. During the meeting, both the PM and the UAE State Minister expressed their firm optimism that Bangladesh and UAE would remain further engaged in mutually cooperative and supportive partners for development and prosperity. Rohingya crisis was also an issue of the discussion.
She met Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen, MP, also.
Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, the Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, was accompanied by Assistant Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Sultan AL Shamsi, Office Manager Minister of State of International Cooperation, UAE.
She also called on UNHCR Representative in Bangladesh Steven Corlliss and Senior Advisor to the Representative of World Food Programme, Naila Sattar. They discussed severity of Rohingya situation and to assess the humanitarian needs of the refugees.
The UAE State Minister arrived in Dhaka on April 19 and expected to leave on April 20.
It is mentionable that from the beginning of the Rohingya crisis, UAE has extended emergency food support to Rohingya women and children refugees in Bangladesh thorough UNHCR, Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Big Heart Foundation, Hope Foundation, Kuwait Society for Relief, Khalifa Foundation and Red Crescent, UAE.
UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Saed Mohammed ALMheiri and Deputy Head of the Mission of UAE to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali AlHmoudi and Director General (UN) MOFA, Bangladesh Ms. Nahida Sobhan accompanied UAE delegation while visiting to Cox’s Bazar.
