UAE embassy celebrates Women’s Day in city

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2020, UAE Embassy, Dhaka in association with Presidency University organized a youths event entitled “Youth Circle: Women Empowerment” at the University in the city on Wednesday.  
Deputy Head of Mission of the embassy Abdulla Ali Al Hmoudi was the keynote speaker of the program, while Rokeya Afzal Rahman, Bangladeshi businesswoman and former Adviser of Caretaker government of Bangladesh graced the occasion as a key speaker. Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Adviser
of the University and a good number of teachers and students from different departments and young leaders from different organizations attended the event.
Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi said the empowerment and protection of women is a key pillar of the UAE’s strategy. Women’s empowerment has always played an important role in the journey of the UAE’s development and has acted as the main driver of the country’s ascent to the global arena.
He also said Emirati women have been one of the cornerstones of the nation’s development and now holding 25 percentage cabinet-level minster, 50 percentage Federal National Council and 42 percentage of diplomatic corps.
Mentioning UAE steps about youth empowerment, he said, UAE initiatives inspired by founding father His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan have been developed such a way so that women can never be left in any way that’s why Emirati women have proven their strong presence in all fields.
Rokeya Afzal Rahman said, UAE has shown tremendous progress in women empowerment and any country may take a lesson from the UAE model.
She said, young women of the world wouldn’t be restrained in anything else and women are now moving forward in equal terms with men in all strata of society.
Bangladeshi women also are surging ahead to keep abreast of all forms, even a good number of railway operators are women, she mentioned.
Participants of the event also took part in an open discussion and discoursed key issues of empowering women.
