An 18-member of Bangladesh under-14 girls football team will leave for Nepal Sunday (Apr 19) to take part in the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship schedule to be held on April 20-25 in Kathmandu.
Bangladesh placed in group B along with Bhutan and India while the group A consist with Islamic Republic of Iran, The Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Addressing at a pre departure press conference held on Wednesday at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban, Bangladesh team’s head coach Golam Robanni Chotan said they are aiming to play final of the championship as his team’s have some players who have playing experience in the last U-14 championship held in Sri Lanka.
Choton said though India is a strong opponent, but they would fight neck to neck to earn at least one points.
Bangladesh will open their tournament campaign taking on strong India on April 21 at the Dashrath Stadium and meet Bhutan on the following day (April 22) at the Army Physical Center Stadium.
Bangladesh women’s wing deputy chairman Mahfuza Akter said the present team has some players who have previous experience of playing in Sri Lanka.
She hoped that the girls would able to make the best use of their experience giving maximum effort in the Nepal’s championship.
BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag, Bangladesh team’s captain Krishna Rani Sarkar and team manager Ayesha Jaman, were among others, present on the occasions.
Bangladesh U-14 team: Taslima, Mahmuda Akhter, Rupa Akhter, Shamsunnahar, Ruma Akter, Sheuli Azim, Mossammat Nargis Khatun, Nazma, Josna, Mosammat Razia Khatun, Sanjida Akter, Mosaamat Mishrat Jahan, (vice captain), Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar (captain), Maria Manda, Tohura Khatun, Monika Chakma, Marzia, Mosammat Sirat Jahan.
