At least two young men including a growing young cricketer in Magura were stabbed to death in two separate districts in the country on Sunday.
In Magura, in yet another gruesome incident, criminals hacked to death a young man in broad daylight at Modern Intersection in Batikadanga area of Magura on Sunday noon.
The deceased was identified as Lisan, 18, son of one Rafiqul Islam, a first year student of Government Shahid Suhrawardy College in Magura and growing cricketer.
Local sources said that Lisan along with his two friends went out after college time. On their way to return, locally known criminal Sohel intercepted their bike and stabbed Lisan randomly, leaving him injured critically. His friend Dipu was also injured when he tried to save Lisan.
Later, locals rushed them to Magura Sadar Hospital, but Lisan died on way to hospital.
Sirajul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, told the media that additional police have been deployed the area after this incident. Drives are going on to arrest Sohel and those involved in the murder.
In Dhaka, another youth was killed and two others seriously injured in an attack in city’s Gandaria area on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Shaon, 18, was the son of one Harun-or-Rashid, an inhabitant of Shyampur area.
The incident happened beside a school in the area around 11:00pm.
Sheikh Amirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Gandaria Police Station confirmed the matter to media.
Injured Shaon, 17, and Dudu Mia, 18, are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the OC added.
