Two women were killed and two others injured when a train rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Bibirhat rail crossing area under Panchliash thana in the city on Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Manowara Begum, 55, and Afrin Akter, 17, hailed from Nazirpara in the city.
Raju Ahmed, second officer of Panchliash thana said two women were killed as a Chittagong city bound shuttle train from Chittagong University hit the auto rickshaw at Bibirhat Rail Crossing at 3 pm /Manowara died on the spot and police recovered the three injured bodies of the woman and sent them to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition, he added.
Jahirul Islam, sub-inspector of CMCH police outpost said three women including a child were admitted at the hospital at 3.30 pm but the attending doctors declared Afrin Akter dead after admission.
The condition of a child and woman are stated to critical and they are undergoing treatment in the hospital, he added. An unnatural death (UD) case was lodged with concern police station in this connection.
