Two to die for killing of couple in Faridpur

A Dhaka court yesterday (Tuesday) sentenced two youths to death and another to life term imprisonment for killing an old couple in 2013.
Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka pronounced the verdict on Tuesday afternoon, awarding capital punishment to Md Sujon Bepari, 20, and Md Nazrul Islam 18. The other convict Meer Md Tanveer Rahman alias Khosru, 46, was handed down life term imprisonment with a fine of Tk 20,000.
The brief case record says that Khosru with other two accused persons slaughtered Mir Shamsul Haque
 Malot, 70, and his wife Nargis Nahar Begum alias Shelly, 60 over a family dispute in Munshidangi village of Chartepakhola, a suburb of Faridpur on October 26, 2013. Mir Kamrul Ahsan Masud, only son of the slain couple, filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station of Faridpur the following day.
RAB-8 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Kamal Uddin, also the Investigation Officer of the case submitted charge sheet in the case against the accused on February 20, 2014. The accused were arrested on November 17, 2013. Of them, Nazrul and Khosru made confessional statements to the court admitting their involvement in the murder. Of the 23 witnesses, 21 testified to the court in the case.
