Two teenagers, aged below 15, have been allegedly gang-raped by three perpetrators in the capital’s Badda area.
The incident took place around 1am on Sunday. Later, the victims were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital’s One-stop Crisis Centre.
The victims’ families have filed a case and police officials are currently working to apprehend the three perpetrators.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammed Parvez Islam of Badda Police Station said: “The two friends (rape survivors) went out of their house together at night. One of them went to meet her boyfriend, while the other one was escorting the friend. The girl who was meeting her boyfriend wanted to spend more time with the boy, but he insisted the girls go back.
“Upon the boy’s insistence, the girls started for their home but unfortunately lost their way. Taking advantage of the situation, the three perpetrators assured the girls to take home, instead they ended up taking the girls to a different place,” added Parvez.
The “boyfriend” is being interrogated by police, the OC further said. One of the girls came to Dhaka from Barishal and used to stay in the other one’s house.
