Two students rescued in Jhenidah after paying Tk 2.5 lakh ransom

Police rescued maternal uncle and his nephew from Harinakundo upazila on Wednesday early hours. They had been abducted at gun point on Sunday from Shibpur village under Chuadanga district.
The abductees are maternal uncle Liton Hossain, 14, son of Motiar Rahman of Shibpur village under Chuadanga district and nephew Ashikur Rahman Ovi, 13, son of Sujan Ali of Nurnagar village of the same district. Liton is the student of Shibpur secondary school while Ashikur Rahman Ovi is the student of the same school.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Ershadul Kabir of Harinakundo police station said, Ashikur nephew of Liton Hossain came to his maternal uncle’s house on Sunday. On the same night Liton and his nephew were watching TV in the room. At the time 7/8 persons entered the room with arms and swooped Liton and Ashikur from the house.

The abductors demanded Tk five lakh as ransom. In the meantime, the family members paid Tk 2.5 lakh. On Wednesday night at around 3-00 am the family members came to Taktabari village field to pay the rest amount under Harinakundo upazila directed by the abductors. On information police encircled the abductors and family members while paying the rest amount Tk 2.5 lakh. They have arrested an abductor named Laltu Hossain red handed but the rest managed to flee.
