Two sisters died after falling into a canal in Hijla upazila of Barishal on Monday September 19, 2022 afternoon.
The dead children Nurjahan (6) and Nurunnahar (4), daughters of Ali Rahi of Char Baushia village of Barjalia Union of the upazila under Hijla upazila of Barishal district.
OC of Hijla police station Yunus Mia said, the doctor declared the two girls dead after they were rescued and brought to the hospital. The bodies were handed over to family members as there was no complaint from the family.
Member of Ward No. 8 of Barjalia Union Jhantu Mia said that the father of two children is a boatman. When he came home in the afternoon, he saw two daughters playing on the bank of the canal then he slept.
At around 3:30 pm, when he went to operate the crossing by boat, then he saw the dead bodies of girls.
