Two projects on Blue Economy in Bay starts soon

The government has undertaken two research-based projects on aquaculture and sea grass in the Bay of Bengal as part of exploration of Blue Economy potential, sources said.
As per the decision, the two projects will start from third week of this month, they informed.
Institute of Bio-technology of Bangladesh will implement the two projects through Foreign Ministry funded by Indian Ocean Ream Association (IORA) amounting to $90000.  
Sources say, the projects were undertaken to be benefited from the immense potential of Blue Economy after Bangladesh has won maritime boundary dispute with India and Myanmar.
However, blue economy can generate jobs for millions and bring about tangible changes in the lives and livelihood of coast people and across the country if the resources are discovered with a vision of scientific understanding.
By this backdrop the maritime affairs unit of Foreign Ministry fetch the projects from IORA.
Rear Admiral (Retd.) Md. Khurshed Alam, BN, Secretary (MAU) Foreign Ministry told The New Nation on Saturday, “We have received fund from IORA that will increase our efficiency on potentiality of aquaculture farming and important sea grass.” IORA members of other countries competed for the projects but finally Bangladesh has own the job. “It will start in next week and will be completed by two years,” he said.
Completion of the project will increase our dignity as research result will be shared with other member countries, he opined.
