Two pregnant women died of dengue fever at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka within last 24 hours.
BSMMU Director Brig Gen AK Mahbubul Haque confirmed the deaths to The New Nation.
Maliha Mahfuz Anya, who was undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the BSMMU, died around 2:30am on Friday, the BSMMU director said.
Another pregnant woman Farjana died of dengue fever on Wednesday morning while she was receiving treatment at the hospital, he added.
Farjana was taken to the BSMMU three days back with fever. She was diagnosed as a dengue patient.
Meanwhile, two other dengue patients died at Suhrawardy Hospital and Mitford Hospital on Thursday and Wednesday.
