Holey Artisan case: Two physicians testify

Three more prosecution witnesses including two physicians yesterday (Tuesday) testified in the Holey Artisan attack case, filed under the anti-terror act.
The witnesses are- Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit Police Inspector Md Shafiuddin Sheikh and United Hospital’s physicians Sadia Islam Sharna and Md Nadim Mahbub. They testified on Tuesday in the court of Judge Md Mojibur Rahman of Dhaka’s Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal. Later, the court fixed August 29 to
record the depositions of more witnesses. The court so far recorded the depositions of 100 witnesses.
Militants killed 20 people, most of them foreigners, in the grisly attack on July 1, 2016 into the Holey Artisan Café of Gulshan area in the capital. The police officials laid down their lives while trying to save people there. Later, five militants were killed in a commando operation.
Police filed the case under the anti-terrorism act with Gulshan Police Station. The trial was initiated on November 26 last year by framing charges against the eight accused namely Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, Rakibul Hasan Regan, Rashedul Islam alias Rash, Sohel Mahfuz, Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Shariful Islam and Mamunur Rashid.
