Two pharmaceutical factories fined in Rangpur

A mobile court initiated by the Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) today fined two pharmaceutical factories Taka 15,000 for manufacturing adulterated medicines violating related laws in the metropolis.
On a tip-off, the mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Kashpia Tasreen with officials of the DB police and Drug Administration conducted a raid at ‘B Shant Laboratories’ in Bahar Kachna area of the metropolis.
During the raid, the mobile court checked documents of the medicine producing factory and found many irregularities in producing a variety of drugs violating the related laws, rules and regulations.
The court found the factory had no clearance from the Department of Environment and Department of Fire Service, no chemists, no masks, gloves and aprons of workers and raw materials were preserved not following the related rules.
The mobile court fined Taka 5,000 to the owner of ‘B Shant Laboratories’ and later conducted another raid at ‘The Moubhasha Islamia Medicine Factory’ in New Shalbon area and found similar irregularities.
The court seized huge adulterated medicines worth Taka 15 lakh from the two factories during the raids. It also fined Taka 7,000 to the owner of ‘The Moubhasha Islamia Medicine Factory’.
The court also ordered owners of both factories to stop production of medicines until rectification of the irregularities and mistakes.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) of RpMP Md Sajjad Hossain, Assistant Director at Rangpur Office of the Drug Administration Md Tauhidul Islam and other officials of the DB Police were present.
