Two victims of the fire at a rice mill in Narayanganj succumbed to their injuries between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Sixty-year-old Md Belayet Hossain died on Sunday at Dhaka’s Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, while Hazrat Ali, 50, passed away late on Saturday, said Resident Surgeon SM Ayub Hossain.
Hazrat sustained 99% burns and Belayet 95% burns, when a fire broke out and quickly spread to nearby paddy husks.
Another victim, Md Sirajul, is being treated at the burn institute with 65% burns.
The fourth victim, Md Rana, sustained minor burns and was taken to a local hospital in Narayanganj.
The incident took place at City Auto Rice and Dal Mill factory in Rupganj upazila around 2pm on Saturday.
City Group Administration Officer Rabindranath Lath said the facility caught fire after one of the pipes at the factory’s husk yard exploded.
It took five firefighting units more than two hours to put out the flames.
