Staff Reporter :Angry people attacked the motorcade of ruling Awami League’s lawmakers Kazi Keramat Ali and Kamrunnahar Chowdhury in Faridpur sadar town on Saturday morning. At least 20 people received injuries in the attack and four microbuses were ransacked at Peyarpur in the Faridpur town at about 9.45am. However, the lawmakers escaped attack.Kazi Keramat Ali has been elected from Rajbari-1 constituency and Kamrunnahar Chowdhury is a reserved women seat M.P.The two MPs were going to Tungipara to visit the tomb of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.When contacted, Md Kamruzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police of Faridpur district said when the motorcade took a turn near bypass in the town, a truck dashed a car.”As soon as the incident took place, the leaders and the workers, who were with motorcade, launched attack on the truck and its driver and helper. At one stage, local people rushed to the spot and launched counter attack on the motorcade leaving at least 20 people injured,” the police official told The New Nation on Saturday. He added that local people at Piyarpur near the Faridpur town damaged at least four vehicles of the motorcade. Three persons have been picked up in this connection, he said, adding the situation is now under control.
