Rape incidents have been increasing across the country at an alarming rate every day. Amid protests, at least eight rape incidents occurred in last three days.
On Saturday, at least two rape incidents occurred in two separate spots of the country.
Among the victims, an employee of a factory was killed after rape in Dhamrai of Dhaka district while another is undergoing treatment in One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of DMCH.
A female worker of a ceramic factory was raped and killed inside the staff bus of the factory on the way to her office on Friday.
The victim was identified as Mamota Akter, 19, daughter of one Shahjahan Khan of Kathalia village under Kushura union. She used to work at Dautia Prateek Ceramic Factory.
Following the incident, police arrested the driver, Sohel, of the bus from Amta area of Dhamrai on Saturday morning. During primary interrogation, Sohel admitted that he violated the girl inside the bus as she was alone then.
Family sources said, the victim used to work for Pratik Ceramic Factory at Doutia . She got into the staff bus of the factory from Hijulikhola bus stand around 4 am early Friday and went missing since that day.
Being informed by her family members, police started searching the victim and at one stage, the law enforcers detained Sohel.
After rape, Sohel strangled her to death by her scarf and dumped the body near Hijulikhola Government Primary School.
Confirming the news, Officer-in-Charge Dipok Chandro Shaha said, “Being informed, we had detained the rapist and acting on his information, we recovered the body of the victim early Saturday. Further investigation is on,” he added.
Meanwhile, a 12-year-old teenage girl has reportedly been raped in city’s Vatara on Friday.
Victim’s family told that she had been raped by four persons.
Victim’s family sources said that she had been missing since Thursday night and the locals informed her founding on Friday at dawn.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Vatara Police Station Muktaruzzaman confirmed the news.
The girl has been admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College (DMC).
Earlier on Friday, a case was filed on charge of gang-rape of a 13-year-old tonnage girl in city’s Kamrangirchar area.
