Two more doctors die from COVID-19 in Dhaka

More two doctors died from coronavirus infections in Bangladesh, those are cardiologist Dr Mahmud Monowar and pediatric surgeon Professor Gazi Zahirul Hasan.
Professor Gazi Zahirul who was working for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU)’s pediatrics surgery department breathed his last in the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday early hour.
Professor Zahir tested positive for COVID-19 for half a month ago.
He has admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital last week as his condition began to deteriorate, BSMMU Vice Chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua told journalists.
Besides, Dr Mahmud Monowar, Assistant Professor of cardiology in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, breathed his last in intensive care at 9:30 am Friday, according to a colleague.
“His oxygen saturation level was dropping. As a result he moved into Dhaka Medical College’s ICU,” Kanak Kanti Barua said.
“Dr Mahmud Monowar was a very proficient physician. He made many contributions to medical education. His death makes a big loss for us,” said Kanak Kanti Barua.
He had tested positive for COVID-19 four days ago and later admitted to the ICU of NICVD.
He contracted the virus from a patient he was treating in our hospital. His wife, who works in the same hospital, also tested positive for the novel coronavirus, doctors said.
