Two workers went missing as a soil-laden trawler capsized in the Padma river near Paturia ghat in Shibalaya upazila due to the nor’wester that swept over the region on Sunday evening.
The missing workers are: Kuddus Pramanik, 55, and Rahij Pramanik, 50, hailing from Pabna district.
Farid Hossain, River Traffic Inspector of BIWTA’s Aricha regional office, said the soil-laden trawler capsized in the river during the storm around 7pm while eight workers were returning from the other side of the river after loading the vessel.
Six workers managed to swim ashore while two others went missing.
On information, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) and river police went to the spot, said Md Shamim Hossain, in-charge of Paturia River Police Outpost.
The search for the missing workers is still on, he added.
