Two cousins drowned in ditch water at Sripur village in Sailkupa upazila of the district on Thursday evening.
They were identified as Palak, 6, son of Kamal Hossain of Sripur village in Sailkupa, while, Chayan, of same age, son of Jakir Hossain of Harinayanpur village in Kushtia Sadar upazia.
Kamal Hossain, father of Palak said, both Palak and Chayan were playing by the side of a ditch near his home. Suddenly Palak fell down in the ditch water and drowned there. As Chayan was trying to rescue him, he also drowned in the ditch and died there. Their bodies were recovered . Kamal Hossain said, Chayan was the son of his sister. He along with his mother came to their house a few days back. When contacted, Officer- In -Charge of Sailkupa police Tozammel Haque said, he was informed the matter and advised the local union parishad chairmen to look into the tragic incident.
