Members of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two madrasa students with 14,000 pieces of yaba tablets fromm city’s Terribazar area early on Tuesday.
The arrested were identified as Abu Taher, 24, son of Rahim Ullah, hailed
from Ukhia upazila of Cox’s bazar district and also a student of Al Jamia AlIslamia, Patia, and Mohammad Eshan Ullah, 20, hailed from Fashyakhali area of Bandarban district and a student of Jamia Madania Madrasa in city’s Shulokbahar area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali thana Jashim Uddin said, on a tip-off, a team of the Kotwali thana police conducted a drive at a room of Hotel Al Immam in the area around 5 am and nabbed Taher and Eshan Ullah. The police team also seized 14,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets after searching their belongings at the hotel room.
Legal action will be taken against the detained persons, the OC added.
