A team of Coast Guard recovered 2.8-lakhs shrimp pollen ( Galda Renu Pona) worth Tk 4 lakhs and detained 7 shrimp pollen traders from fishing trawler on Kirtankhola River near Bukhainagor area under Charmonai union of Barisal Sadar upazila on Friday.
Later a mobile court led by adminitrative magistrate Sukhamoy Sarkar fined 7 shrimp pollen traders total Tk 35 thousnd on Friday afternoon.
The convicted informed that shrimp pollens were collected from different areas of Barisal region and sending to shrimp farms of Khulna region, said Coast Guard contingent commander Aminul Islam.
Catching of shrimp pollen restricted by fishery act to boost open water fish wealth and the recovered pollens later released on river, said Bimal Chandra Das, district fishery (Hilsa) officer said fishery official.
