Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the district on Wednesday.
The victims were identified as bus driver Mohammad Ali, 42, hailed from Feni district and Mohammad Ripon, 24, son of Abdur Rahman, of Zamalpur village under Baroiyarhat pourashavha. Police said the ill-fated Soudia Paribahan bus driver Mohammad Ali met the fatal accident when a covered van collided head-on with his bus in Mirarsari sadar area on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Mirsharai upazila of the district at about 7 am today.
Locals brought the victim at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) but the attending doctors declared him dead after admission at around 10 am.
Besides, motorcycle rider Ripon received serious head injury when a speedy pickup van knocked his motorcycle in Zorarganj area under Sitakunda upazila of the district at about 11.45 am today. Locals, with the help of police, brought the injured to CMCH where attending doctors declared him dead.
Two separate cases were filed with respective police stations in these connections.
