Two persons were killed in separate incidents in the district on Thursday .
The deceased were identified as farmer Mohammad Azam Khan,45, son of Mohammad Ismail Hossain, hailed from Suabill area under Fatikchari upazila and CNG three wheeler driver Nurul Abser,23, son of Khalilur Rahman, hailed from Gumanmoddon village under Hathazari upazila of the district.
Zahidul Kabir, Officer in Charge (OC) of Bhuzpur police station said farmer Azam Khan died on the spot when his neighbour Ala Uddin, stabbed him indiscriminately at Suabill area over previous enmity at 10 am on thursday. Abdur Razzak, Sub Inspector of Hathazari thana said CNG three wheeler driver Nurul Abser also died on the spot when a Chittagong bound truck knocked his CNG Auto Rickshaw at Abbasiapool area on Hathazari-Nazirhat road at 11 pm on previous night.
Police detained the truck but its driver escaped.
The bodies were sent to the morgue for autopsy while two separate cases were filed with respective police stations in this connection.
Banshkhali murder accused held: The police on Saturday arrested one absconding man accused in sensational 11-murder case of Banshkhali upazila here after 11 long years. The arrestee is identified as Muhammad Jasimuddin, 38.
According to Banshkhali Police, on receipt of secret information, the police team raided the Khankhanabad area under Banshkhali upazila at about 3 pm and arrested Jasimuddin.
A total of 11 people including children and women were burnt to death when a group of miscreants set fire to houses of Shilpara at Shadhanpur Union under the same upazila on November 18 in 2003 last.
2 held with hemp: Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two persons with five kilograms of ganja from city’s Kodomtoli area on Friday morning. The arrested were identified as Sagar Dey, 21 and Mohammad hashem, 25, both hailing from Cox’s Bazar.
Based on secret information, a team of DB arrested them with the hemp worth about TK 50 thousand from CRB Crossing area of Kodomtoli around 6am, DB sources said.
A case was filed under Narcotics Control Act in this connection.
