A truck driver was killed when another truck hit him as he repairing the engine of his truck inside the BSRM steel re-rolling mills factory in Baro Awalia area under Sitakunda upazila here in the early hours of on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Jahirul Islam Choton, 31, son of Kamal Uddin, a permanent truck driver of BSRM steel re-rolling factory, hailed from Senbag upazila under Noakhali district.
Mozzembel Hoq, Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda thana, said Choton died on the spot when received head injury hitting by another truck inside the BSRM factory in the area at about 3 am.
No case was filed with Sitakunda thana on behalf of victim’s family after the incident, Mozzembel added.
Another report adds:A covered van helper was killed when a Lorry and a covered van collided head-on at Bansbaria area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Sitakunda upazila of the district at 8am on Wednesday.
The deceased was covered van helper Mohammad Selim, alias Shohag,25, son of Jakir Hossain. He hailed from Sundarpur village of Noahkhali district.
A Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka collided head-on with the Dhaka bound lorry that left covered van helper Selim seriously injured, Highway Police Sergeant Zillur Karim said.
Police and locals sent the injured to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) immediately after the incident but the victim succumbed to his injuries at 1.30 pm today.
The accident blocked traffic on both sides for about half an hour.
On receipt of information, police rushed to the spot and seized the two vehicles.
