At least two persons, including a minor boy, died in separate road accidents in the city’s Darus Salam and Tejgoan areas on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Mehedi Hassan (7) and Afzal Khan (58), resident of Tejgoan staff quarter.
Khokon Chandra Debnath, Sub-Inspector of Darus Salam Police Station, said, a vehicle hit the boy, killing on the spot at about 7.00 am beside Dipnagar Slum Road. But the vehicle fled the scene.
However, the SI could not give any detail about the incident.
In Tajgoan, a private car rammed into an elderly
man when he was crossing the Nabisco-Agrani Bank Road at about 10.00 am. He was injured seriously.
Later, locals rushed him to National Orthopedic Hospital first. As the condition was critical, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where doctor declared him dead at about 12.00.
Selim, son of the deceased, identified him at DMCH. The son claimed that his father was a freedom fighter.
Confirming the incident, Habibur Rahman, Sub-Inspector of Tejoan Police station, said that police nabbed the car and its driver.
The bodies were taken to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
