Two people, including a bus helper, were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Bairagiganj on Rangpur-Bogra highway in Mithapukur upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Harun-ur-Rashid, 35, a resident at Hazirhat in Rangpur city, and Lal Miah, 30, a helper of a ‘Bashundhara Paribahan’ bus.
In-charge of Barodargah highway police Sub-inspector Hafiz said a Rajshahi-bound ‘Bashundhara Paribahan’ bus from Rangpur collided with another bus heading for Lalmonirhat from Chittagong around 11am, leaving seven people injured.
The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where attending physicians declared Harun and Lal dead.
