Two people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway at Kamarpukur village in Syedpur upazila on Saturday. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Ismail Hossain, officer-in-charge of Syedpur Police Station, said the accident took place in the area around 8:30 am when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over steering, leaving two people killed on the spot and 15 others injured. Of the injured, 11 were rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital while the rest others admitted to Syedpur upazila health complex. Police could not arrest anyone as the bus driver and helper managed to flee.
