A 10-year-old girl died of electrocution while an oil truck driver died after his truck went up in flames in Patharghata and Pahartali areas of Chittagong city on Wednesday.
Champa Das, daughter of Sadhan Das, was electrocuted around 6:30pm when she stepped out on a street submerged with tidal water near her house in Nurjahan Colony area of Patharghata, said Nayek Abdul Hamid of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Police Outpost. After she was rushed to CMCH, doctors there declared her dead, he added.The oil truck driver, Mohammad Azim — a man in his forties and son of Tajul Islam from Nangalkot in Comilla — was severely burned after the loaded truck caught fire around 6:00pm in front of Hakkani Petrol Pump in Pahartali area.
Doctors at CMCH could not save him after he was taken there, Hamid added.
