A woman was killed in a lightning strike at Rouha village in Khalsi union of Daulatpurupazila in Manikganj.
It is learned thatdeceased Feroza Begum (55), mother of three children, wife of Abul Hossain of Rouha village, was struck by lightning at around 6 am on Wednesday (April 20) while she was covering corn on her own land half a kilometer away from her house. She was died on the way home after being rescued by the people around him.
Khalsi UP Chairman Md. ZiaulHaque Zia said that Babu’s wife Firozawas struck by lightning while she was covering for maze corn in the rainy season. Later, a bystander came forward and rescued her, but she was died on the way while being taken for treatment.
Another report adds: A man named SurjoMallik (70) was killed in a truck accident at Shibala in Manikganj. The accident took place at Paturia No. 5 ferry terminal on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as SurjoMallik, son of late Ali Mallik of Ferry Ghat area.
According to family sources, SurjoMallik was seriously injured when he was hit by a mini truck while crossing the road at Ferry Wharf No. 5 in Paturia at noon. He was rushed to ShibalayaUpazila Health Complex. Doctors Transferred him toDhaka Medical College. He died on the way to Dhaka Medical College at around 4 pm.
Paturia Naval Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique said the truck was seized after the accident and the driver was detained.
