Two killed in Cox’s Bazar

A minor boy was crushed under a bus of Soudia Paribahan on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway in front of Cox’s Bazar Medical College on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Arafat Uddin Fahim, 7, son of Mawlana Nurul Absar of Dakkhin Janarghona area under Jhilongja union in Sadar upazila of the district. He was a student of Class I at Hazi Para Government Primary School.
The victim’s mother Laila Begum said, on his way to the school, Arfat was dashed by the bus at 10am, in which he was seriously injured.
He was rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
On-duty doctor of the Emergency Department at the hospital Wahiduzzaman Murad said the minor died before he was brought to the hospital. There is an injury mark on his head, he added.
Locals caught the bus soon after the accident, but its driver and helper fled away.
Later, police took the bus to the police station.  
Another report adds: A wood cutter was killed by wild elephants at Shisharbeel area under Khuniapalong union in Ramu upazila here on Saturday noon.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Hossen, 55, son of late Idris Ali of Uttar Kombonia area at Dhechhuapalong village in the union.
Local sources said the deceased went inside the forest to cut wood as usual. At that time, news came that he was attacked by a herd of wild elephants. Later forest rangers and locals recovered his trampled body at 12:30pm.
Chairman of Khuniapalong union Abdul Mabud confirmed the incident.
