Two minor cousins drowned in a pond at Bakultola village in Sharankhola upazila on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Nowrin Aktar, 5, daughter of Abdul Mannan of Bakultola village and her cousin Shanta Aktar, 6, daughter of Abdul Mondal of Kushtia district.
Family source said Shanta Aktar along with her mother came at Bakultola to visit her uncle Abdul Mannan.
On Saturday night Nowrin and Shanta slipped into the pond when they went there to wash their legs.
Family members rescued them and rushed to Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, said officer-in charge of Sharankhola Police Station Md. Rezaul Karim.
