The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, in an overnight drive, arrested two suspected members of the banned militant outfit, Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Sat Masjid Road area of Dhanmondi in the capital, said a press release yesterday.
Against the backdrop recent Burdwan blast in India, DMP detectives detained M Saidur Rahman, 48, and M Abul Salek, 25 at about 1.20 am last night. Salek is the younger brother of fugitive JMB member Tariqul Islam Sumon who had alleged link with the Burdwan blast.
They are the gayere ehsar members of JMB. Somebomb-making manuals were also recovered from their possessions.
DB said the detainees confessed their involvement in the JMB activities since 2001.
A case was lodged with Dhanmondi Police station n this connection.
