Robbers looted 80 tolas of gold and 140 tolas of silver from two jeweller’s at Betka Bazar in Tongibari upazila early Sunday.
Police said a gang of armed robbers stormed the market at Betka Bazar at about 1:30am and took the night guards and workers of the goldsmith shops hostage at gunpoint. Later, they took away 80 tolas of gold and 140 tolas of silver from the two shops. The bandits also beat the guards and workers when they tried to resist them, leaving five people injured. The injured were admitted to Tongibari upazila health complex.
