Two men have been fined and jailed for serving rotten chicken in a hotel in Gazipur. ‘Surma Hotel’ owner Kashem Ali, 50, and his son-in-law Abu Reza, 28 were the ones punished, police said .
Joydebpur police station Sub-Inspector Jahirul Islam said on Sunday night one ‘Maruf’ started vomiting after eating a grilled chicken that smelled foul.
This led to fracas in the hotel at Chandna Chourasta area. Police later raided the hotel and recovered seven dead and rotten chicken. The hotel owner Kashem Ali and his son-in-law Reza were handed over to a mobile court.
Executive Magistrate Kazi Md Arefin sentenced them to three months in jail and fined them Tk 100,000.
They will have to serve another month in prison if they fail to pay the fine. Locals said Reza used to look after his father-in-law’s hotel.
