The two students of Bangla department of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia got Abul Ahsan Chowdhury stipends for their outstanding result in academic result on Tuesday.
The two student are- Sumi Akter under academic session 2013-14 has occupied first place and Sohel Haque of same session occupied second place in their honours result. The stipends handed over to the students in a ceremony held at ‘Bangla Monch’ of the university around 11:30am. IU vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the programme as chief guest while Bangla department chairman Prof Dr M Saidur Rahman presided over the programme. IU treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha was present here as special guest with Prof Dr Abul Ahsan Chowdhury as the guest of honour conducted by associate Prof Dr Tapom Kumar Roy. Among others, Prof Dr M Sarwar Murshed, Prof Dr Goutam Kumar Das, Prof Dr Rabiul Hossian, Prof Dr Rashiduzzaman and around three hundred students of the department were also present.
