Two inmates died in Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur on Monday morning (Sep 5).
The deceased were identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique (62) from Mahishtara area of Muktagachha police station of Mymensingh and Khokon Bepari (42) from Charjanaja area of Shibpur police station of Madaripur.
According to Kashimpur High Security Central Jail sources, Abu Bakkar Siddique fell ill inside the jail in the morning. Afterward he was rushed to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Later, the duty doctor declared Abu Bakr Siddique dead around 10:30 am.
His inmate number in this jail was – 4048/A.
Abu Bakkar was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 302/34 of Session Case No. 90/2002, Muktagachha Police Station Case No. 05 (2) 2000, G, R-104 (2) 2000.
Meanwhile, another inmate Khokon fell ill in the jail around 8 am. Later he was quickly taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. There the doctor examined him and declared him dead around 9 am.
According to Kashimpur Jail, he was an inmate of No-709/15. He was incarcerated in this jail in 5 cases, his case no-59(05)07, section-narcotics 19(f) of Ramna police station of Dhaka.
Delwar Jahan, Deputy District of Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, confirmed the matter to the media saying that the two fell ill in the jail at separate times in the morning. Soon after, when they were rushed to the hospital, the duty doctor declared the two prisoners dead.
The body will be handed over to the family of the deceased after legal proceedings.
