Staff Reporter :Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a couple with fake notes worth Tk 25 lakh from a house in city’s Adabor area on Thursday night.The detained persons are Md Hamidur Rahman, 37 and his wife Jamila Akhtar.They also seized several fake note-making equipment, including laptop, laminating machine, mobile phone sets and chemicals.RAB-1 Commanding Officer Sohel Mahmud said this in a press briefing at its Headquarters in the city’s Uttara on Friday.The elite force official said that a team of RAB-1 led by ASP Mahbubur Rahman picked up Jamila from a house at Adabor around 10:30pm.Based on her information, the law enforcers raided another house and detained Jamila’s husband Hamidur while he was printing fake notes there, the RAB official said. Hamidur Rahman is the ringleader of a fake money making syndicate, the elite force official said. Since the start of June, law enforcers have been making repeated busts on fake notes. Many of them were said to have been involved with the trade for six or seven years and even caught at times.On June 28, six members of a gang were held with Tk one crore in fake notes. On June 14, six men were held with Tk 40 lakh in fake notes and on June 9 another 10 were held with Tk 50 lakh fake cash.
