Detectives in a drive arrested a young man along with 20,000 Yaba tablets from Maizyartek area under Karnaphuli thana of city on Sunday night.
The arrestee was identified as Nur Helal, 25.
Asif Mohiuddin, assistant commissioner of Detective Branch of Police (Bandar) said being tipped off, a team of DB police conducted the drive in the area at night and stopped motorcyclist Nur Helal on suspicion.
Later, they recovered the Yaba tablets from the oil tank of the motorcycle.
The DB police arrested the youth and seized the vehicle.
Another reports adds: RAB-7 in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler with 6,000 pieces of contraband Yaba pills from the JBC Market area in the port city on Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 28, son of late Nur Islam of Mogra village in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
Acting on a tip-off, an elite force team conducted a drive in the area and arrested Shafiqul with the contraband Yaba pills and Tk 350 in cash.
The seized Yaba pills have a street value of around Tk 25 lakh. Shafiqul was handed over to Kotwali Police Station, said a press release from RAB-7.
