Two held for killing British citizen

Moulvibazar Police arrested two persons on charge of killing a Bangladeshi-born British citizen in Moulvibazar on Monday night.
The arrestees are : Uddipon Rehab Center Director Suhel Miah, 36, son of Lutfur Rahman Khan, of Kaziranga (East) village under Moulvibazar sadar upazila of Moulvibazar and his assistant Ripon Miah,29, in same area. Moulvibazar Model Police Station sub-inspector Gias Uddin conducted an operation in Moulvibazar town and Srimangal Upazila town area on Monday night and arrested them.
 Earlier, a Bangladesh-born UK citizen on last 6th January was found dead in front of a drug rehabilitation centre in Moulvibazar’s Sadar upazila where the victim was receiving treatment for the last couple of days.
Police recovered the body, with several injury marks on it, of Jalal Uddin, 45, from inside an ambulance parked in front of Uddipon Drug Healing Center in the upazila around 9:00pm.
The family members termed it as a murder.
According to relatives, Jalal went to his uncle’s place in the UK during his childhood and stayed there ever since until last April, when he was sent back to Bangladesh by his uncle’s family due to his increased addiction to drugs.
The family members admitted him to the rehabilitation centre on December 29 as his condition deteriorated, he added.
Victim’s mother Ruksana Akhter said, she had received a phone call from the rehab authorities around 7:00pm on 6th January and was told that they admitted her son to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after he fell seriously ill.
“Finding no one named Jalal admitted to the hospital, we went directly to the rehab centre and found nobody in its premises,” she added.
After searching the building, we finally found the body inside an ambulance parked in the courtyard of the building, she said.
Polash Kumar Roy, residential medical officer of the hospital said, “I found a large number of injury marks on the body.
