A Chapainawabganj court on yesterday sentenced two persons to life term rigorous imprisonment and fined each of them of Tk. 20,000 six months more in default.
The convicted persons are Soyebur Rahman, 55, son of Dost Mohammad of Bagdurgapur village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district and Md.Mojibur Rahman, 40, son of Sadol Ibrahim of the same area.
The judge of the Chspainawabganj Special Tribunal -2 and additional district and session judge Md. Ziaur Rahman gave the verdict in presence of the convicted persons.
According to the prosecution story, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 on secret information arrested the duo with 200 grams of heroin from Kansat Gopalnagar square in Shibganj upazila of the district on March 2, 2016 at 8 pm.
Nayek Subedar Mofazzal Hossain of RAB filed a case against them on the same night with Shibganj thana under Narcotics Control Act.
Later on May 30, 2016 investigating officer SI Gazi Moazzem Hossain submitted charge sheet against them to the court.
