A court here on Wednesday sentenced two people to death for killing a minor girl after rape at Sakhipur village under Bhedarganj upazila here three years back.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal A Salam Miah handed down the verdict against Farid Sheikh, 40, son of late Shamad Sheikh of Sardar Kandi village of Sakhipur area and Zakir Sheikh, 32, son of Razzak Sheikh, a resident of the same area, Public Prosecutor Firoz Ahmed said. According to the prosecution, taking the girl, who was a student of Sakhipur Primary School, to an empty room, Farid and Zakir raped her on July 17, 2017.
Later, Sakhipur police recovered the decomposed body of the ill-fated girl from a jute field.
Father of the victim filed a case against the duo with Shariatpur police station.
Police also submitted charge sheet against them after investigation.
