Noted actor, director of drama and advertisement Afzal Hossain and noted actor Masum Bashar are
intimate friends. While working in Dhaka Theatre friendship between these two actors started. They have still that friendship. Masum Bashar was outside the country for many years. After returning to country, he started acting again to get inspiration from Afzal Hossain. For this reason, at this age, he is a busy actor of the small screen. Masum is a popular face to play the role of father on the screen. Now directors do not get his schedule easily. Without any hesitation Masum confessed that to come into this position, Afzal Hossain’s inspiration worked a lot. On the stage, he along with Afzal acted in many theatre plays like Muntasir Fantasy, Shakuntala, Kittonkhola and others. Under Afzal’s direction, Masum also acted in Chhoto Kaku series. Masum mentioned that he could not get the opportunity to
share the screen with Afzal Hossain.
Based on Rabindranath Tagore’s Postmaster, a telefilm titled Ja Hariye Jai has been made recently where these two friends, Masum Bashar and Afzal Hossain shared the screen for the first time. Syed Salauddin Zaki gave direction of the telefilm which script was also written by him. Shooting of the telefilm completed adjacent areas to the capital recently where Afzal Hossain played the role of Baul Sutrodhar, while Masum Bashar played the role of Noren. The telefilm will be aired on Channel i. While talking about acting in the telefilm Afzal Hossain said, “Masum Bashar and I acted together for many years. We have a good friendship that is not all. We have many colourful days in our friendship. We have many memories together. We can recall those past days easily.”
Masum Bashar shared his feelings by this way, “It is no doubt that Afzal is a noted actor and director of the country. I feel proud because he is my good friend. When I work with him I feel I am working in a family. While working in this telefilm, I could not realise how time flied because we recalled many of our old days’ memories during shooting. The telefilm has really become a nice work.”
