Two ‘drug peddlers’ held in Gazipur

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered 510 bottles of Phensedyl from Chandra in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Thursday evening.
The arrestees are – Md Azad, 60, and Md Salah Uddin alias Gama, 57.
An operational team of Rab-1 conducted a drive near a flyover at Chandra crossing at around 6:30pm and arrested two drug traders, said Kamruzzaman, assistant superintendent of police, of Rab-1.
The arrested confessed to their involvement with a drug peddlers syndicate, he added.
Quoting their confessions, the ASP said both of them used to bring Phensedyl to the capital which were smuggled through various frontiers in Rajshahi and adjoining districts.
Drug trader Azad, in his confession said he had brought 8-10 consignments of Phensedyl to Dhaka and received Tk 30,000 for each consignment.
Another drug trader Salah Uddin, said he is a painter by profession and used to work as an associate of Azad and receives Tk 20,000 per consignment, ASP Kamruzzaman added.
