Joydebpur police have arrested two traders with 10 kg of cannabis in front of the Quality Fit Gate on the east side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Shirirchala area of Sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The arrested are Jahangir Alam, 30, son of Shahid Miah of Charpara village in Panora of Mohanganj Police Station in Netrokona, a tenant of Selim Bhuiyan’s house in Natun Bazar of Sreepur upazila. And Shariful Islam Momen (40), son of late Nazrul Islam of Atkapara village of Sadar police station of the same district, is a tenant of Nazrul Islam’s house in Anshar Road area of the same upazila.
SI Rakibul Islam of Hotapara police outpost of Joydebpur police station said that drug dealers in Shirirchala area are in their custody for buying and selling narcotic cannabis. On the basis of such secret information, two drug dealers were arrested .
Joydebpur Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahatab Uddin said the accused have been handed over to the wise court this afternoon after filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act.
