Two die of taking Herbal syrup in Kushtia

Two persons including a minor girl died after taking herbal unani syrup in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia district on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Nur Mohammad, 50, and Shamima, 9, inhabitants of Khrara under Boholbaria union.
Shamima’s father Nabab Ali also took the same medicine for recovery from cough but, rather, was hospitalized.
Local and family sources said, Nabab Ali bought the syrup named ‘Marie Gold’ produced by Nobin Laboratory, two months ago. The trio took the syrup together at Nabab Ali, residence on Sunday night.
Shamima fell sick around 10:30pm. She was taken to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex where she was declared dead by the doctor. Dr Mizanur Rahman, Residential Medical Officer of Bheramara Upazila Health Complex said that Shamima had died before bringing her in the hospital.
Nur Muhammad died in the Kushtia General Hospital after he fell sick at midnight.
 Abul Kalam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station confirmed the matter to the media that the two bodies were recovered.
