Two-day cultural festival ends in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: A two-day cultural festival ended in the district on Saturday with a call to create much awareness among the people particularly young generation about country’s own culture. At the initiative of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, District administration has arranged the festival in cooperation with Zila Shilpakala Academy (ZSA) with the slogan ‘Srizone Unnayane Bangladesh’.
On the second day, a good number of artistes of 20 cultural organizations of the district rendered folk songs like palligeeti, vaoyaia, jari, sari, murshidi, and baul at the auditorium of ZSA here to entertain the people, said district cultural officer Alamgir Kabir. The programme was followed by a concluding ceremony held around 9.30 pm with additional deputy commissioner (General) Muhammad Mizanur Rahman in thechair. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and additional district magistrate ABM Sadiqur Rahman was present at the event as the special guest. Speaking on the occasion, DC Gautam Chandra Pal in his speeches underscored the need for promoting the cultural activities to the people particularly the youths to help keep them free from militancy, drug taking and other social crimes side by side with building a culturally-developed society. The DC also thanked artistes, cultural personalities and media men including the members of ZSA for showing their whole heated cordial cooperation to make the cultural festival-2018 in the district a grand success., reports BSS.
