Two people were killed and 10 others injured after being rammed by a truck at Cox’s Bazar’s Kalatali Dolphin Junction.
The accident took place when the cement-laden truck first hit a CNG-run autorickshaw and then plunged into pedestrians as its driver lost control over the wheel at around 10:45 pm on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Mahuna Begum, 65, wife of Lash Mia of Chandrima area in Kalatali and Shahadat Hossain, a resident of Uttara in Dhaka.
Cox’s Bazar Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Abdullah said on information, two units of the fire service rushed to the spot and recovered a body. Four other injured people were also rescued and sent to hospital, where another person died.
Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station OC Sheikh Monirul Gias told Daily Bangladesh that the dead and injured were rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital. The deadly truck has been seized while its driver managed to flee the scene.
