Barishal Metropolitan Police on Wednesday suspended Assistant Sub Inspector Aminul Islam and Constable Riazul Islam in connection with fleeing of under trial prisoner Dukhu Mia from Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital on Tuesday early morning.
Nasiruddin Mallik, Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch and spokesman of Barishal Metropolitan Police, acknowledging the fact, said investigation has been started whether there was any negligence of duty of the suspended cops.
Mentionable Dukhu Mia, an accused under trial prisoner of a child kidnapping case lodged with Fatulla police station of Dhaka, was arrested from Palashpur slum area of Barishal city on March 4, 2019 by police investigation bureau .
During arrest Dukhu Mia attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat and immediately admitted at ENT ward at third floor of the Barishal SBMCH under police custody. On Tuesday early morning he went to toilet of the ward with hand calf and opening grill of the toilet managed to flee away, said Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station.
